Hi, Marion. I am a Brazilian Illustrator and I follow your blog for quite some time. I love your style of caricature and drawing. What is your secret to capturing the personality of people in their drawings? Can you teach me some lessons? Please, visit my blog and leave a comment. I will appreciate very much. Greetings from Brazil. http://rkamei.blogspot.com/
Hi Roberto, Thanks for visiting my blog There'isn't really a secret to it, it's just drawing, drawing and drawing. When I was 28 I decided to make it my job and that meant I had to draw, whether I liked it or not, just to pay the bills and so on. Fortunately for me, I often liked it a lot. There were times when I was less inspired, it comes with waves. I always look at other people for inspiration and sometimes try to imitate their style a bit. I print lots of caricatures of other caricaturists and that's my inspration book, next to books of Steven Silver, Joe Bluhm, Al Hirschfeld, Jan Op De Beeck. But also comic books are a source of inspiration: Asterix & Obelix, Lucky Luke etc. As for the personality: I guess it's in the eyes. As for the personality of a person, I guess that lies in
Marion, I really like your drawings. I want to draw like you someday...well, it's just my dream!:) May I ask what kind of dye(?) do you use for your live caricature?
Hi marion! I've been doing some colour caricatures using the Caran d'ache: neopastels. I find they suit me as they are soft and smudgable and I prefer to the neocolour11 that you use, but I don't fix. they seem quite permanent. I just wondered, do you fix the pictures after with a spray fixative, or not?

Eun Aa,
I use Copic ciao markers for the black lines and oil pastels from Caran d'Ache for the colours.
Thank you for answering:) I tried to draw your caricatures several times, but it's really difficult!
